All editions of UFS Explorer software were updated to version 5.20. This update enables the following features in the software:

Support of Apple file Extended Attributes and Resource Forks. When copying of extended attributes is enabled (by default), the software restores file tags, associations and other custom attributes. This function is available under Mac OS X via native API and under Windows/Linux by means of support of .AppleDouble extended attribute format.

Glyphs pre-composition. Apple Mac OS X does not support so-called "composed glyphs" (such as certain Kanji or umlauts, formed by base symbol and "accent modifier" symbol). When copying data across operating systems, using of composed glyphs may cause issues with access to file system under Mac OS. Starting from this version, UFS Explorer replaces "composed" symbol sequences with "pre-composed" characters.

Users of UFS Explorer version 5 should consider this update as "recommended".
This version address issues detected after launching support of Btrfs file system. Particularly, when RAID volume was formatted with Btrfs and contained millions of files, this caused significant performance penalty because of high level of internal storage layout segmentation. With this update was applied different approach of handling this kind of storage that saved much resource and made it work much faster.
With skipping of intermediate update 5.17.2 we are announcing release of updated software at version 5.18. In this update, we release support of Btrfs file system. The update is applicable to all UFS Explorer software, including Standard Access.
What is currently implemented:

"Read" support for Btrfs formatted volumes;

Support of RAID-enabled Btrfs, including "mirror", "stripe", "raid5", "raid10", "raid6" schemas for both data and metadata with any number of disks.

For next software versions we discovered quite good possibility of deleted files recovery from Btrfs formatted volumes as well as low chances of data recovery after volume format (due to loss of critical information about internal storage layout).

Fixed issue with recognition of virtual disk size of Hyper-V virtual disks (VHD) with format version 6.x;

Fixed size of files recovered from XFS and HFS+ file system in certain scenarios (because of incorrect size, the files were padded with zeros to whole cluster boundaries);

Starting from version 5.17 UFS Explorer Professional Recovery supports decryption and recovery of Netgear NAS with enabled full-disk encryption. Netgear NAS use classic LUKS encryption with generated passphrase, that is called in terms of Netgear "the key".
Previous UFS Explorer version was unable to decrypt this NAS because of passphrase length that for Netgear is few kilobytes.
Currently virtual RAID from Netgear NAS can be decrypted for recovery using standard "Decrypt using LUKS infomation" function and by specifying known "key" as passphrase.

After a while, we release next software update. This release is mostly related to upgrade of SGI XFS file system support. Recently Linux developer's community introduced extension to XFS file system to increase its reliability. This included modification of key metadata structures, making older software implementation incompatible with newer file system design.
Starting from version 5.17 our software fully supports CRC-enabled XFS (inode version 3 and folder version 2 (3) metadata).
If you are using the software with CRC-enabled XFS, it is recommended to update your software to latest version.

Among other modifications there are:

fixed problem causing software crash when operated with path bar in certain scenarios;

fixed issue with incorrect detection of EXT4 file system size for scan when file system size is over 16TB;

We are continuing research of capabilities of protected/encrypted NAS recovery of devices from different vendors. So far we can provide data recovery services for the following types of protected/encrypted storages:

Buffalo Terastation full disk encryption. When it is required to recover lost/deleted data or access data after hardware/firmware failure, we are able to recover lost encryption key that is required to decrypt the storage with UFS Explorer Professional Recovery or Linux dmcrypt.

QNAP full disk encryption. The NAS uses vendor-specific procedure to enhance security of LUKS encryption password. Using password and NAS-specific data, we are able to recover encryption key that is required to decrypt the storage with UFS Explorer Professional Recovery.

Drobo password-protected NAS. For purposes of lost data recovery or recovery after NAS failure, it is possible to bypass password protection and recover data directly from "Beyond RAID".

Certain LUKS enabled NAS. Many popular NAS use standard (unchanged) LUKS encryption that is compatible with Linux and UFS Explorer Professional Recovery software. To recover data from this kind of NAS you will only need "administrator" (data access) password to be provided.

This software update was related to file dates, reported by the software. Starting from version 5.15.3 the software preserves not only date of file modification, but also date of "creation" and "last access" date. This feature applies only to Windows software version (Linux and Mac OS use these date attributes differently).
With support of these date attributes there was also introduced support for precise time, that include local time adjustment basing on current time zone, daylight saving time settings and etc.

Among other implemented changes are:

fixed bug preventing recognition of ZFS file systems in certain scenarios;

8.3 file names on FAT/FAT32 file system are now considered lower-case;

rework of file dates handling procedures.

This update is recommended to cases related to ZFS file system as well as to cases related to forensics when file dates precision is critical.

This update is considered as minor, however it adds valuable features, related to Windows dynamic disks. Starting version 5.15.2 all software editions support dynamic disks over GPT that resolve partition identification issues on big drives.
The other function is better support of NT LDM metadata to properly handle "generic" volumes, including "simple", "mirror" and "spanned" volumes. Support of "stripe" and "RAID5" remains unchanged.
In this release there are also fixed few bugs, including software termination issue from iconic state under Windows in certain scenarios.
This update is considered as "recommended".
This software update resolves several compatibility issues found after analysis of older file systems. Among important improvements is better support of file attribute separation on NTFS via "Attribute Lists" and as result - possibly better recovery quality in certain scenarios.

This update is considered as "recommended".

This update introduces support of actual most recent version of ZFS file system, with support of all current standard compression algorithms (LZJB, LZ4, ZLE, GZIP). This does not introduce support of complex (RAID-Z) volumes.
Also in this update were fixed many found problems. Among them are minor issues in user interface, missing translation of some interface elements (under Mac OS) etc.
The update is recommended for all users of software version 5.
